Gamepad Tester
Connect a controller and test every button, trigger and joystick live — with drift and deadzone readouts, trigger pressure and vibration. Works with Xbox, PlayStation and most PC gamepads.
How it works
- 1
Connect the controller
Plug it in with USB or pair it over Bluetooth.
- 2
Press any button
For privacy, browsers only reveal a controller after a button press.
- 3
Test every input
Buttons and triggers light up; sticks show live position, drift and a deadzone overlay.
- 4
Check vibration
Use Test vibration to confirm the rumble motors work, where the browser supports it.
Common uses
- Check a used controller for drift or dead buttons before buying it.
- Confirm a controller works on PC before starting a game.
- Measure how far a stick drifts to set an in-game deadzone.
About the Gamepad Tester
Connect a controller and test every button, trigger and joystick live — with drift and deadzone readouts, trigger pressure and vibration. Works with Xbox, PlayStation and most PC gamepads.
The tester reads the browser's Gamepad API every frame. Stick positions range from −1 to 1 on each axis and triggers from 0 to 1, so you see exactly what games receive — including the small resting offsets that cause drift.
Gamepad Tester is part of a free, privacy-first toolkit. It uses your browser's built-in device APIs, so it starts instantly with nothing to install — and nothing you type, say or show ever leaves your device.
Because gamepad tester works without any sign-up or installation, you can use it as often as you like and it's always available — on desktop or mobile, and even offline.
