About the Redact PDF
Permanently black out names, account numbers and other sensitive details in a PDF — draw boxes or search for text. Redacted pages are flattened so the hidden text can't be copied back out.
Real redaction removes information rather than covering it. Each page with a box is rendered at your chosen resolution, the boxes are burned into that image, and the page is replaced — so the original text and hidden layers on the page no longer exist in the file. Title, author and other metadata can be cleared too.
Redact PDF is part of a free, privacy-first toolkit. Your files are handled entirely in the browser with pdf-lib and PDF.js, so nothing is uploaded to a server and there are no page or size limits.
Because redact pdf works without any sign-up or installation, you can use it as often as you like and it's always available — on desktop or mobile, and even offline.

Redact PDF — FAQ
No. A box added in most editors only covers the text — it can still be selected, copied or found by search. This tool flattens redacted pages into images so the text underneath is removed.
