Change Image DPI
Change the DPI of a JPG or PNG to 300, 600 or any value without touching the pixels — no re-compression, no quality loss. See the new print size instantly. No upload.
How it works
- 1
Add JPG or PNG files
Drop one or more images. They're read in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
- 2
Pick a DPI
Choose 72, 96, 150, 300 or 600, or type any value. The current DPI and print size are shown.
- 3
Update without re-encoding
For JPG and PNG only the resolution tag in the file header changes, so the pixels stay identical.
- 4
Download
Save each file with its original format, or all of them as a ZIP.
Common uses
- Meet a print shop or publisher requirement for 300 DPI files.
- Fix images that appear huge or tiny when inserted into Word or InDesign.
- Set 600 DPI on scanned line art or signatures before sending them to print.
About the Change Image DPI

DPI is a small piece of metadata stored in a JPG's JFIF or EXIF header, or a PNG's pHYs chunk. Many tools re-save the whole image to change it, adding another round of compression. This one edits only those header bytes, so the pixels are identical afterwards — the safest way to hand a printer a '300 DPI' file.
Change Image DPI is part of a free, privacy-first toolkit. Everything is processed locally on a Canvas with high-quality pica resampling — there are no uploads, no quality loss from a server round-trip, and no limits.
Because change image dpi works without any sign-up or installation, you can use it as often as you like and it's always available — on desktop or mobile, and even offline.

Change Image DPI — FAQ
No. DPI is a tag that tells printers how many pixels to fit into each inch. The pixels aren't touched, so quality stays the same. Adding real detail would need more pixels, not a higher DPI number.
